Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Amada Press Brake Set-Up/Operator for our client in Amesbury, Ma. This role involves setting up, operating, and performing basic maintenance on Amada press brakes to produce precision sheet metal components that meet engineering drawings, quality requirements, and production deadlines.
What the Press Brake Set-Up/Operator Will Be Responsible For
- Setting up Amada press brake machines for production jobs using work instructions and blueprints.
- Selecting appropriate tooling and programming machine parameters to achieve specific part dimensions.
- Operating press brakes to bend, form, and fabricate sheet metal parts to tight tolerances.
- Inspecting finished parts using precision measuring tools and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Performing routine maintenance, maintaining job documentation, and ensuring a safe work area.
Key Responsibilities
Set-Up & Operation
- Set up Amada press brake machines according to job specifications.
- Select and install proper tooling; adjust tooling alignment for accuracy.
- Program and fine-tune machine settings to meet production requirements.
Production & Quality
- Operate press brakes to produce metal parts within tight tolerances.
- Inspect completed parts using calipers, protractors, and other measuring tools.
- Make real-time adjustments to ensure all parts meet quality standards.
Documentation
- Record production data including part numbers, quantities, and run times.
- Maintain and update setup sheets and job documentation as required.
Maintenance & Safety
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on machines.
- Alert supervisors to any mechanical issues.
- Keep work area clean and follow all safety and PPE protocols.
Collaboration
- Work closely with supervisors, engineering, and quality teams to resolve issues.
- Assist in training or mentoring junior operators when needed.
Key Qualifications & Skills
Experience
- 4+ years of experience setting up and operating Amada or similar CNC press brakes (RG, HFE, HD NT, HRB series, etc.).
Technical Skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders.
- Strong understanding of sheet metal properties and fabrication processes.
- Proficient with precision measuring instruments and gauges.
- Basic knowledge of CNC programming and machine controls is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Capable of performing repetitive tasks with strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
